Pre-Kindergarten

About Pre-Kindergarten

Students who attend the Pre-K program are more prepared for Kindergarten. Academically, they tend to perform better than students who have had no Pre-K experience. They are also more prepared socially. They can sit on the carpet, know how to raise their hand, line up and walk down the hall, and know the routines of the school. They know the building and teachers. They have more confidence and are ready to learn when they come in on the first day of kindergarten. These aspects are very important to the success of our students.

Pre-K students have the same opportunities as the other students in the school. We use the Reading Streets program that is used in the older grades. Our classroom has iPads, a SMARTBoard and a Hatch computer. Students participate on school field trips, field days, concerts, and other school events. Students have physical education, music, guidance and library. Pre-K participates in activities with community members such as the fire station, the town library, and the police station.
